Tui Kaan

Chinese Nerve Massage

Tui Kaan (pronounced twee-karn) is a specialized branch of Chinese massage that utilizes precise, manual tools to address spinal and cervical nerve issues. Tui Kaan focuses on the root of pain: the spinal and cervical nerves.

This method offers long-term relief for chronic neck, back, and nerve discomfort. By activating the body’s natural recovery processes, it helps restore nerve function and returns the body to a state of fluid, pain-free mobility.

Tui Kaan is specifically engineered to provide lasting relief for:

  • Chronic Back and Neck Pain: care for upper and lower back issues, including lumbago, sciatica, and chronic discomfort

  • Neck and shoulder problems: relief for neck pain, stiffness, limited range of motion, trapped nerves, and frozen shoulder

  • Nerves and Mobility issues: treatment for nerve pain, RSI, numbness in extremities, and sports-related injuries

I was lucky enough to be introduced to a Master of Tui Kaan, a powerful and rare healing method, via my Kung Fu club. I was suffering from sciatica at the time which he was able to successfully treat. This developed into a close relationship and apprenticeship in the methods of Tui Kaan over the course of several years.

Having practiced now for over 20 years, I am proud to be one of only three practitioners in the UK currently offering this treatment. This rare treatment is quite special and I think can be particularly useful when other methods have not had long lasting success.

Apart from Tui Kaan, my time is mostly occupied with practicing and teaching Kung Fu, TaiJi and Chi Gong. I am the Chief Instructor for adult Kung Fu and Chi Gong at the Nam Yang Brighton martial arts Charity (www.namyangbrighton.co.uk/). We help people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities become stronger through martial arts and combat sports. We proudly hold the title of the UK’s first Martial Arts Club of Sanctuary for our work with refugees and asylum seekers, and many of our students and families are from low-income backgrounds or marginalised groups.

I also each some ChiGong for a NHS PCN and the great Brighton charity, Team Domenica
