Steve works with people who are living with the after effects of stressful, painful and traumatic experiences. His approach combines touch and body awareness to support a deeper physical presence so they can feel more comfortable in their own skin. How we hold stress varies with each individual and context. During periods of high stress, we can feel physically and emotionally overwhelmed. The more we can accept our sensations, feelings and emotions, the more choice we have in how to interact with the world around us. Meeting ourselves in this way opens the door to resilience and healing so that we can experience life more fully.
Craniosacral Therapy is a hands-on therapy with gentle, sustained contact through the client’s clothing. Cranial work offers a way of being held that encourages feelings of safety and comfort so that physical tension, emotions and psychological states can be clarified and processed.
Brainspotting (as with EMDR) makes use of the natural phenomenon that, “where we look effects how we feel”. Through the use of eye positions, we can tap into and harness the body’s natural self-scanning, self-healing ability. When an individual’s eye positions are stimulated, the deep brain appears to reflexively signal that the source of the problem has been found so that associated feelings, memories and bodily responses can be processed.
