Massage Therapy, Deep Tissue, Warm Bamboo, Ayurvedic Face Massage
I bring a background knowledge of physiotherapy to massage as I have worked as a Physiotherapy Assistant for over five years, including on hospital wards supporting patients with neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s Disease, as well as orthopaedic patients post emergency hip replacements and elective knee and back surgery. I also have over two years’ experience as a Hydrotherapy and Physiotherapy Assistant working with children and adults with complex needs and brain injury, including stroke. I completed a research paper on the benefits of Sensory Integration Therapy for clients with complex needs during the first year of a PG Diploma in Occupational Therapy and this led to my interest in massage as therapy. The degree course also included a year’s study of anatomy with physiotherapy students. In addition to joining the team at The Open Door, in March 2019, I offer massage at Six Physio, Lindfield, where I have been registered for over two years. I also work from home in Lewes and as a mobile therapist. I continue to work part-time as a therapy assistant for the NHS. In addition to massage, I offer a weekly chair-based exercise class at The Open Door on Mondays (£2).
I passed the ITEC Level 3 Diploma massage course with merit, at the College of Classical Massage in Brighton, which includes a stand-alone qualification in anatomy, physiology and pathology. I am a member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) and hold FHT recognised post-qualification Diploma in Warm Bamboo Massage and Certificates in Deep Tissue Massage and Ayurvedic Face Massage.
I offer treatments at The Open Door by appointment. Please see below for booking details and prices
Holistic & Deep Tissue Massage
with organic Neal’s Yard oils, either for a sense of relaxation and wellbeing or, using a deeper pressure, to target problem areas of discomfort and tightness. A 90-minute massage can include a 30-minute Ayurvedic face massage.
Warm Bamboo & Bamboo Fusion
with organic Neal’s Yard oils using smooth purpose-made bamboo sticks warmed to 70 degrees Celsius. The massage can be completed with bamboo only, or a combination of traditional hand massage and warmed bamboo, known as Bamboo Fusion. The warmth helps to relax muscles more quickly through increased blood flow due to the dilation of blood vessels under the heat. A deeper tissue massage can be achieved using the bamboo and the comforting warmth enhances a deep overall relaxation. A 90-minute treatment can include a 30-minute Ayurvedic face massage fused with a warm bamboo face massage.
Ayurvedic Face Massage
with organic Neal’s Yard oils used lightly, to enhance circulation and blood flow to the face and head thus relieving tension. The massage has been hailed as rejuvenating and a ‘natural face lift’ as a glow is brought to the skin and relaxation to tension lines is generally achieved. The massage can help with sinus problems and tension headaches. 60-minute and 90-minute appointments can include neck and shoulders and a foot massage.
